The journey of life takes us through the playground of our emotions, which are at times pleasant but often
turbulent. As we learn to manage our emotions more skillfully, we come closer to our goal of wellbeing and peace of
mind. This workshop is designed to foster a deeper understanding of emotions from the perspective of yoga (as a
spiritual discipline) and introduce practices, which will enable us to take charge of our emotional lives. We will
explore this through meditations, breathing exercises, positive thinking, chanting and stories. The class will offer
us a supportive environment and encouragement to proceed on our path. No previous experience of asanas (yogic
postures) is necessary.
- Saturday, July 12: The first session will introduce us to the yogic theory of the origin and manifestation of
emotions. Through observation of body and mind we will shed new light on the experience of an emotion.
From understanding to practice - we will learn simple means for emotional management.
- Saturday, July 19: In the second session we will briefly look at the interplay between body, mind, and
behavior. Inviting all aspects of ourselves, we will discover means to bring about emotional balance.
Ziv Porat has an Acupressure Massage - Body Mind Integration practice, and teaches exercise and self-health
classes in Oakland CA. He conducts workshops on yoga and spirituality in CA and abroad. He lived, trained and
taught in various Sivananda Yoga Vedanta centers. His practical, inspiring and humorous approach evolved out of
his twenty-five years of experience as a yoga practitioner and instructor.
